New Zealand-born, Australia-raised pop/rapper Kelsy Karter first got her start in music by covering songs like Katy Perry’s “The One That Got Away” and Justin Timberlake’s “Cry Me A River” on YouTube. Upon graduating high school, Karter made the big move to Los Angeles to try and make a name for herself, and is now working with some of the best songwriters in the biz for her forthcoming album. The record’s first single, “Ghost Town”, is best described by Kelsy herself:

“‘Ghost Town’ is a pop song about love that touches on the question of insanity. The lyrics are quite poetic and contain metaphors that give the song a lot of depth.”

Let’s face it: every time Drake puts out a new rap song, people go nuts. And it’s been no different with the release of “All Me“, featuring fellow rappers 2 Chainz and Big Sean. Here’s a look at the best lines from Drizzy’s latest soon-to-be smash:

5. “My new girl is on Glee and sh*t, probably making more money than me and sh*t” – Big Sean

Currently dating Naya Rivera from Glee, Big Sean decided to go even more public with his relationship and reference her in his lyrics. That’s a big step, because a song lasts forever!

4. “Just bought a shirt that coast a Mercedes Benz car note” – 2 Chainz 

We know rappers love to brag about how much money they make and all, but what shirt could possibly cost as much as a luxury Mercedes? With any luck, it’s this one he’s referring to.

3. “I swear to God, I got 99 Problems but a b*tch ain’t one / I got 99 problems, getting rich ain’t one” – Big Sean

We kinda love this line because it’s a nice play on Jay-Z’s “99 Problems“, which is easily one of the best songs in existence. Nice homage, Big Sean.

2. “Just understand that I’m on a roll, like Cottenelle, I was made for all of this sh*t” – Drake

This one speaks for itself, really. Witty bathroom humor always gets us cackling, not gonna lie.

1. “God damn, should I listen to everybody or myself? / Cause myself just told myself / ‘You’re the motherf***ing man, you don’t need no help’” – Drake

Drake’s channeling his “No New Friends” attitude here. Judging by your track record of taking your own advice, there’s no reason you should change anything at this point.

Australian producer tyDi knows how to deliver a popping EDM track, but did you know the DJ is actually a classically trained musician with a degree in music? His latest single “Something About You” doesn’t have much in the way of classical influence though. It’s a club banger, through and through, and features vocals from a fellow up-and-comer, European singer/songwriter Kerli. We’ve got the premiere of the song’s brand new lyric video right here.

The lyric video shows tyDi travelling around the world, working hard in studio, spending some down time with his dog, and, of course, performing in front of sold-out crowds. Watch it below.

“We Own The Night” vs. “Take Back The Night”: Which Song Is Better?

British boy band The Wanted just debuted a catchy, sing-along single “We Own The Night” on air with Ryan Seacrest, and we have to say, it’s a lot better than their previous single “Walks Like Rihanna”. It’s not uber-fast or dance-floor-ready, but rather charming as the boys sing in the chorus May our hearts be full like our drinks tonight / May we sing and dance till we lose our minds / We are only young if we seize the night / Tonight we own the night.

However, we think it’s funny that the group dropped their new song around the same time as Justin Timberlake, whose new jam “Take Back The Night” is coincidentally similar in its title. With The Wanted’s lyrics praising living it up while you’re young and JT’s words convince listeners to dance all night long, even the lyrical content is on the same level, so we’re a liiiiittle suspicious. Which is why we’re asking you to vote for the song of the night that you prefer:
